Are you trying to get into spearfishing but feel limited by your breath hold or pain in your your ears?
Struggling to stay relaxed underwater?
Having trouble equalising when diving head first?
Getting stuck at shallow depths because your ears or breath hold give up first?
This 4 hour Breath Hold and Equalisation Workshop with Gonzalo Cortes, a consistent -90m depth, diver is designed specifically for beginner and aspiring spearfishers on the Gold Coast who want to build real foundations safely and efficiently.
Spearfishing demands more than just “holding your breath.” It requires relaxation, efficient breathing, proper equalisation, and control under pressure. Without these fundamentals, depth, bottom time, and confidence in the water will always be limited.
In this workshop, you will learn:
- How to hold you breath and how to improve it safely
- Practical breathing techniques to increase relaxation and bottom time
- A step by step introduction to the Frenzel manoeuvre to equalize your ears
- How to equalise properly when diving head first
- The most common mistakes that block depth progression
We begin with a dry session where you will learn breath work techniques and break down the Frenzel method step by step using practical drills and tools.
Then we move into the pool, where you will apply both breath hold strategies and equalisation skills in a controlled 5 metre depth environment. This is where technique becomes real underwater confidence.
This workshop is practical, beginner friendly, and focused on giving you the essential skills to start your spearfishing journey safely and with solid foundations.
Limited spaces available.
